OYSTERPRENE© : SOÖRUZ integrates oyster shell powder in high-range wetsuits

Aware of the impact of neoprene on the environment, Soöruz has been researching for the last ten years to reduce its environmental footprint by developing new materials based on renewable and/or recyclable materials. Soöruz wetsuits with Bamboo and recycled polyester (2013) in Yulex (2015) and Naturalprene (2016) have been important advances that have confirmed our ability to make high-performance and eco-responsible wetsuits. Limestone is a type of fossil limestone from quarries. It limits the use of petrochemical materials but requires a very energy-intensive and non-renewable extraction process.
In 2018, we carried out the first oyster shell crushing tests in...

Spooked Kooks

Spooked Kooks

Softboards. No hard feelings.

Spooked Kooks started with a mission to make the best performing and most durable softboards containing as much recycled plastic waste as possible.

100% of all High-density Polyethylene used in their boards is recycled post-consumer plastic waste. This includes the entire “slick” (underside of the boards), leash plug, fin boxes, fins and fin key.

Spooked Kooks core mission flows through their overall approach, from looking at ways we can integrate other recycled materials and sustainable non-plastic materials into our boards, to ways they can improve their manufacturing process, packaging and products to minimise the amount of new plastic used...

Soöruz wetsuits

Aware of the environmental impact of neoprene, for over a decade Soöruz has been looking to reduce its environmental footprint by developing new materials from renewable and recyclable material.

Soöruz wetsuits with bamboo and recycled polyester (2013), Yulex (2013) and Naturalprene (2016) have been major innovations. They comforted us with the possibility of making more sustainable wetsuits with higher performance. Many wetsuits focus on an eco-friendlier material: the limestone, is a type of fossil coming from quarry. It limits the use of petrochemical materials, but it requires a very energy intensive and non-renewable extraction process.

In 2018, we...
